Las posibles complicaciones pueden desarrollarse con el tiempo y su aparici&oacute;n es m&aacute;s probable cuando los niveles de glucosa en sangre no se manejan diligentemente. Pero se han realizado importantes investigaciones para tratar y aliviar muchas de las complicaciones de la diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>A menudo, las complicaciones surgen debido al da&ntilde;o en los vasos sangu&iacute;neos, que afectan a diferentes &oacute;rganos, como los ojos y los ri&ntilde;ones. De hecho, 40-60% de las personas con diabetes Tipo 1 desarrollan retinopat&iacute;a (enfermedad ocular) y 25-40% de las personas con diabetes Tipo 1 desarrollan nefropat&iacute;a (enfermedad renal).<\/p>\n<p>Las complicaciones no hacen distinci&oacute;n en el tipo de diabetes, ya que afectan tanto a las personas que viven con diabetes Tipo 1 como a aquellos con diabetes Tipo 2, a menudo de manera similar o id&eacute;ntica, y se requieren tratamientos similares o id&eacute;nticos.
