Muchas personas utilizan ambos: revisan el n&uacute;mero del MCG y, si el resultado no parece correcto o si el nivel est&aacute; muy alto o muy bajo, lo confirman con un medidor de glucosa en sangre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pero &iquest;qu&eacute; pasa si el medidor tampoco es completamente preciso? &iquest;Qu&eacute; tan confiable es esta herramienta tan importante para el manejo de la diabetes?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.diabetestechnology.org\/surveillance.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un estudio independiente realizado por la Diabetes Technology Society<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> evalu&oacute; 18 sistemas populares de medici&oacute;n de glucosa en sangre aprobados por la Administraci&oacute;n de Alimentos y Medicamentos de los Estados Unidos. El estudio encontr&oacute; que solo seis de los medidores evaluados registraban niveles de glucosa de forma consistente y confiable en comparaci&oacute;n con pruebas de laboratorio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los seis medidores con mejor desempe&ntilde;o produjeron resultados con una diferencia de 15 % o menos respecto a los valores de laboratorio el 95 % de las veces. En los otros 12 medidores, la coincidencia con los resultados de laboratorio ocurri&oacute; entre el 71 % y el 92 % de las mediciones.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>C&oacute;mo se realiz&oacute; el estudio<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El estudio utiliz&oacute; medidores de glucosa comprados en tiendas minoristas, los mismos que usan las personas en su vida diaria. En total se evalu&oacute; a <\/span><b>1,035 participantes en tres laboratorios diferentes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El equipo de investigaci&oacute;n fue liderado por el Dr. David C. Klonoff del Diabetes Research Institute en el Mills-Peninsula Medical Center en California. El estudio fue financiado por Abbott Laboratories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No todas las personas que participaron ten&iacute;an diabetes tipo 1.
