Cuando se presenta hiperglucemia aguda, las c&eacute;lulas de islotes del p&aacute;ncreas se da&ntilde;an y dejan de producir insulina. Lo anterior causa que la persona requiera insulina para vivir. De acuerdo con NHS, esto se presenta en cerca de 50% de las personas con pancreatitis aguda (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.diabetes.co.uk\/conditions\/pancreatitis.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diabetes.co.uk<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). En casos raros, si el p&aacute;ncreas se da&ntilde;a severamente, quiz&aacute; se requiera remover quir&uacute;rgicamente partes del mismo.
