Role Overview:
Beyond Type 1 is seeking a health reporter to write original news stories, conduct interviews, copyedit and publish resources for Beyond Type 1 and Beyond Type 2 digital platforms. This role will report to the Director of Content.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Researching, writing and reporting on a wide variety of stories and resources for Beyond Type 1 and Beyond Type 2 web platforms
- Conducting interviews with medical experts and key opinion leaders in the diabetes space
- Occasional work with corporate partners to execute on branded content
- Work closely with the editorial team to create content that, despite being clinical in nature, is engaging and easy to understand for a lay audience
- Using insights to make suggestions for Beyond Type 1’s campaign and content planning
- Working collaboratively as a member of the Beyond Type 1 digital team, acting as subject matter expert
- Attend meetings, conferences and industry events to report on news and represent Beyond Type 1 (virtually for now with potential future travel)
Ideal Qualifications:
- BA/BS in a related field: marketing, literature, journalism, healthcare, communications, human biology (graduate degree a plus)
- 3+ years experience of health/medical journalism with published, bylined articles
- Ability to write compelling content related to health topics, especially US healthcare policy and diabetes, on tight deadlines
- Experience using WordPress
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfort in a startup, rapid-growth environment
- Collaborative, team player with strong interpersonal skills
