Raquel Burgos, MD
Dr. Burgos is a general pediatrician and the mother of three sons. Her middle son was diagnosed with Type 1 at age 3. She also has a sister, niece and cousin with Type 1. Over the course of her career, she has practiced pediatrics in a small pediatric group, a large multi-specialty group, and also in a concierge practice. Her career has focused on promoting healthy lifestyles for children, teens and families. Her practice is based on the love of relationships and a belief in thorough, thoughtful and unhurried care.
A California native, Dr. Burgos obtained her bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from Stanford University, medical doctorate from the University of California San Diego, and master’s degree in public health from the University of California Berkeley. She has also authored a short children’s book for young patients newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Given her own family ties to Type 1, she has a special interest in caring for other families with children and adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes. She also is active in providing trainings to schools so they can best care for their Type 1 students during their school days. She is honored to help the Beyond Type 1 Team as they promote education and awareness as we all move closer to a CURE!
