Meet Cassidy – Bike Beyond team member and Logistics Coordinator! Give to her fundraising page, or follow her on Instagram.

Tell us about the first time you rode a bike.
I didn’t learn how to ride a bike until I was 11! Our family friend John taught me. We were on my parent’s street and I made him promise that he wouldn’t let go of me no matter what. As I was coasting down the block I turned my head and saw him standing in the cul-de-sac with a big grin on his face! I actually took my family to his memorial tree and told them that story before I gave them the news that I was accepted to the Bike Beyond team!

Tell us about a crazy moment or embarrassing experiencing with Type 1.
OMG. I had my insulin pump one month before I caught the tubing on the door of my bathroom and ripped my infusion site out. I yelled out to my roommate and she found me crying from laughter on the bathroom floor with blood just dripping from my “butt shelf” as the nurses call it. We laughed SO hard about that for so long – it’s the only time I’ve ever ripped a site out!

What would your spirit animal be?
A cat. Actually, my cat. Charlie-bones is totally me in cat-form. Mostly mellow, likes sleeping outside, will annoy you to no end when he wants something.

What’s your go-to low snack?
Juicy Juice apple juice boxes, I’m shameless about them! I’ll gulp down a kid’s juice box with a dog face on it anywhere and in front of anyone when I’m low.

Tell us something on your bucket list.
Other than biking cross country?! Thru-hiking the PCT!

If your friends could pick three adjectives to describe you, what would they be?
Thoughtful, motivated, adaptable (thanks ladies! xx)

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why?
President Obama’s farewell speech! I’m really going to miss the Obamas in the White House.

Tell us something about yourself that most people wouldn’t know.
I’m terrified of heights! Which is totally nuts because I love hiking all the tallest mountains I can find!

What’s a super power you wish you had?
Dude. Carb counting is a super power! Sometimes I have it & sometimes I don’t.

Tell us something you’re good at!
Bringing people together! I’m also a really good terrible dancer!

If you had a theme song for yourself, what would it be?
Mistadobalina by Del The Funky Homosapien

If you had a nick name/alter ego for yourself during the ride, what would it be?
