Tell us about the first time you rode a bike.
I am not sure how old I was, but I remember that I had been using just one training wheel for a long time. My dad took me to the local college–with a big open, empty parking lot–and worked with me until I finally was able to ride across without his help. Afterwards, we celebrated with ice cream, and I have loved biking ever since.

Tell us about a crazy moment or embarrassing experiencing with Type 1.
There’s not one specific moment I can think of, but there have been a few times at restaurants where I didn’t have my pump and the waitress has walked up and seen me with a syringe and my belly sticking out. Always a little awkward, and probably a bit shocking for them!

What would your spirit animal be?

What’s your go-to low snack?
I tend to keep apple juice around, so that’s my go-to, but my preferred low snack is salted caramel! I tend to overdose a bit on the latter though. 😉

Tell us something on your bucket list.
Riding my bike across the country! In all seriousness, it has literally been written at the very top of my bucket list for as long as I can remember. Of course, I would also love to travel the world, so it’s hard to list just one other thing. Something similar to riding across the country that I hope to do is hike the Appalachian and Pacific Crest trails!

If your friends could pick three adjectives to describe you, what would they be?
Busy, awkward, and nerdy.

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why?
Probably the Bachelor. Corrine is so painful to watch though, I might not finish the rest of the season. Aside from that, the NFL playoffs!

Tell us something about yourself that most people wouldn’t know.
I spend every moment of free time (and probably a lot of time that shouldn’t be “free time”) reading. I try to read 10 books per month. One reason I am really looking forward to the bike trip is so that I can knock out a ton of audiobooks while training and riding!

What’s a super power you wish you had?
I wish I could just touch a book, and absorb all the knowledge it has instantly.

Tell us something you’re good at!
I’m a pretty good skier, and my other main “talent” would probably be math. It was not very cool in high school when I was wishing I was more coordinated or good at something “fun”, but I definitely appreciate it now that I’m in college!

If you had a theme song for yourself, what would it be?
One, Two Step by Ciara: “The princess is here! Ciara! This beat is….”

If you had a nick name/alter ego for yourself during the ride, what would it be?
