Many people do not receive an accurate and timely diabetes diagnosis.
Many people who are diagnosed never receive vital management education, connection or encouragement.
2025 Innovation Grants: Going Mobile
Beyond Type 1 is committed for equal access to care and education for all. That’s why Innovation Grants in 2025 will support organizations that work in mobile health.
From apps and wearable devices, to remote monitoring and mobile health clinics, we want to fund meaningful work in your community.
Who is the grant designed for?
- Federally qualified health centers (FQHC)
- FQHC look-alike clinics
- Safety-net clinics
- School-based clinics
- Faith-based organizations
- Food pantries
- Community centers
- School districts
- Sororities & fraternities that employ innovative approaches to help people with diabetes
Applicants must operate in the following cities to be eligible for grant funding: Tampa, Miami, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., New York (inc. NJ metro), Denver, Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit or Dallas.
What initiatives will the 2025 grants support?
- Expanding mobile health services or mobile clinics.
- Scaling tele-health solutions for diabetes management.
- Community outreach programs focusing on diabetes prevention and care.
- On-site early detection events and educational workshops in underrepresented areas.
- Proposals benefiting individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes in underrepresented populations.

Beyond Barriers is Beyond Type 1’s diabetes health-equity program. Beyond Barriers brings resources, education and programs to underserved and minority communities.
Beyond Barriers elevates innovation through:
- Investment in partner organizations who are working to improve outcomes for the diabetes community in innovative ways that improve access to care, support and resources needed to thrive with diabetes.
- Beyond Barriers will provide our partners financial support, educational resources and technical support to increase early diabetes diagnosis through warning-sign awareness and screening, improve access to care and enhance community education.
