Mary Catherine Burdine-Hurrion is the Senior Vice President of Growth and Partnerships at Beyond Type 1, leading strategy and collaborations that expand the organization’s reach and visibility, unlocking new revenue streams to deepen the impact of our work in supporting the global diabetes community.
She brings nearly 20 years of experience building transformative partnerships across the nonprofit and media sectors. Most recently, Mary Catherine served as Vice President of Partnership Development at Comic Relief US, raising funds to end intergenerational poverty through the power of entertainment. Over her tenure, she spearheaded high-profile partnerships that contributed to raising nearly $430 million, directly impacting more than 36 million children and families. She also served as Vice President of Business Development at VOW for Girls where she worked to advance gender equity and end child marriage worldwide.
Earlier in her career, Mary Catherine specialized in brand storytelling and global collaborations at leading media organizations including Bloomberg, Forbes, The Financial Times, and The Economist. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from Washington and Lee University and an executive education certificate from MIT Sloan School of Business.
Committed to community leadership, Mary Catherine has served in board and management roles with the Junior League in both New York City and Charleston, helping advance local missions in fundraising, membership, and volunteer engagement.
