This enhances flexibility for diabetes management with tubeless AID.

Already compatible with Dexcom’s G6 and G7 continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), the Omnipod 5 Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) System is now compatible with Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus CGM sensor in the United States.

This integration, announced by Insulet, makes the Omnipod 5 the most connected tubeless AID system in the U.S., offering diabetes patients greater flexibility in managing their condition.

The Omnipod 5 uses SmartAdjust™ technology to automatically regulate insulin delivery every five minutes based on glucose readings.

It is also the only tubeless system indicated for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

A Growing Diabetes Market

By incorporating Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus, Insulet opens its system to a broader audience in the U.S. diabetes market.

The expanded compatibility aims to address the diverse preferences of people with diabetes, many of whom rely on CGMs to monitor their blood sugar levels.

“This latest innovation will allow millions of Americans who take insulin to get started on Pod therapy using their preferred CGM sensor,” said Eric Benjamin, Insulet’s executive vice president and chief product and customer experience officer.
