Beyond Type 1 Appoints Nate Checketts as Chairman of the Board of Directors
San Carlos, CA—Beyond Type 1, a global diabetes nonprofit organization serving the type 1 and type 2 diabetes communities, announced today that Nate Checketts has been appointed to serve as the chairman of the board of directors.
Checketts enters the chairman role after serving as a member of the board of directors since 2018. Nate Checketts is the co-founder & CEO of Rhone, a premium men’s activewear company founded in 2014.
Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 25, Checketts was inspired to serve the diabetes community. “I know how hard it is on an intimate level to live with diabetes, I know diabetes not only impacts the person diagnosed but everyone in their orbit, and I know how much those surrounding people worry and care,” said Checketts. “I care deeply and I’m very energized about putting full focus and effort behind Beyond Type 1.”
Nate Checketts has gone out of his way to engage directly with the Beyond Type 1 community, serving as a team captain on the 2019 Beyond Type Run marathon team, where he’ll run the TCS New York City Marathon alongside 29 team members living with type 1 diabetes.

Prior to Rhone, Checketts worked for and consulted with some of the biggest tech and entertainment properties in the world including Cisco, The NFL, Legends, FanVision and Sport Radar, and serves on the board of Veritone. Checketts graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in Finance and is an avid entrepreneur who founded four companies before the age of 30. He and his wife Dayna reside in Connecticut with their boys Gabriel, William and Nicholas.
