Julia Blanchette, PhD, RN, BC-ADM, CDCES
Julia Blanchette is a Nurse Scientist, Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She received the national Rising Diabetes Star Award from ADCES in 2019 and, in 2020, was the inaugural Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES) and Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) Post-Doctoral Fellow in Integrated Diabetes Management.
Dr. Blanchette’s clinical expertise is diabetes technology across the lifespan and the transition from pediatric to adult diabetes care. As a scientist, her work addresses health equity and diabetes self-management barriers during life transitions through community-engaged research. She has lived with T1D for over 25 years and has had various roles across the T1D community, including volunteering at diabetes camps, on her local Breakthrough T1D Board of Directors, and on various committees for ADCES and the American Diabetes Association.
