Beyond Type 1 is collaborating with Antidote Technologies and JDRF to launch the first Spanish-language search engine for type 1 diabetes clinical trials.
As the first ever search tool of this kind offered in Spanish, we are thrilled to be at the forefront of this groundbreaking development.
Who can participate in a type 1 diabetes clinical trial?
- Despite people of Hispanic background making up around 18% of the U.S. population, less than 8% of all clinical trial participants identify as Hispanic..
- New research has also found that Hispanic American youth are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes more often than other demographics.
- Developing new and better T1D treatments is vital, but that can only happen when the people who participate in clinical trials reflect the real-world demographic of those living with diabetes.
- As the world’s second-largest Spanish-speaking country, the United States is well-positioned to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical trials.
- While the search tool is now available in Spanish, the clinical trials themselves may or may not be conducted in Spanish.
