On November 10, 2025, the Tandem Mobi insulin pump system received approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use with Android smartphones.

This approval greatly expands the population who can use the Tandem Mobi mobile app to include users other than Apple smartphone users.

Tandem Mobi, made by Tandem Diabetes Care, is a small automated insulin delivery (AID) system that can be worn on the body if desired.

An AID insulin pump system pulls blood sugar data from the user’s continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system, and the pump adjusts insulin doses based on those readings.

“We’re excited to bring Tandem Mobi and the best-in-class outcomes of Control-IQ+ to Android users,” said John Sheridan, president and chief executive officer. “This latest integration gives Android users access to the life-changing benefits of Control-IQ+ on a system that emphasizes convenience, discretion, and customization.”

The Tandem Mobi’s AID system is powered by Control-IQ+ technology. This technology has been shown to help people reach up to 79 percent time in range during the day, and up to 90 percent time in range overnight, with healthier blood sugar readings starting on day one of wearing the device. Individual results may vary.

The Tandem Mobi mobile app is easy to use and designed to help people manage their diabetes right from their existing smartphone, without extra medical devices.

The app is secure and designed to connect directly to the Tandem Source platform for simple communication between patients and their doctors. This way, patients can make management decisions and changes in real time.

“With the Tandem Mobi mobile app, we’re delivering a solution that meets patients where they are, on the devices they use every day, while maintaining the safety, reliability, and innovation they expect from Tandem,” said Dr. Jordan Pinsker, chief medical officer.

Nationwide access will start in early 2026, with a limited release starting in December 2025. Once launched, the Tandem Mobi Android app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store on smartphones, including the Google Pixel models six through ten and Samsung Galaxy models S21 through S25.
