Beyond Type 1 co-founder Nick Jonas is releasing his first solo album in almost five years. “Sunday Best” will be the long awaited follow-up to his 2021 studio album “Spaceman.” And sharing the spotlight with him on the “Sunday Best” album cover? His continuous glucose monitor (CGM).
The “Sunday Best” cover features Nick in a fitted white t-shirt, getting ready in a dimly lit bathroom and looking at his reflection in the mirror. Although his left arm is largely cropped out of the photo, you can see his CGM on his tricep.
Including Nick’s CGM on the album cover helps fight the stigma that people with diabetes encounter everyday. For the type 1 diabetes community, so much of the experience is hidden from others—including the physical toll of blood sugar swings, the cost of medication and medical supplies, and navigating the complexity of the U.S. health care system. By showing his CGM on something as prominent as the “Sunday Best” album cover, Nick helps make the invisible, visible.
Nick was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2005 when he was 13 years old. His brother, Joe Jonas, had noticed how much weight Nick had lost in a short period of time, and alerted their parents that “something was wrong.” Rapid weight loss is one of the four primary signs of diabetes. He went public with his diagnosis in 2007 and has since advocated for type 1 diabetes awareness, education, and resources.
Nick narrowly avoided diabetic ketoacidosis, thanks to Joe looking out for his little brother. Early detection can save a life. Learn how to #SeetheSigns and get screened for type 1 diabetes here.
“Sunday Best” is out on February 6, 2026 and can be pre-saved now.
