GetInsulin.org is for anyone in the U.S. who uses insulin. The tool is available in English and Spanish. It helps people who are uninsured, insured, or under-insured find affordable options.

GetInsulin.org is a tool from Beyond Type 1 that helps people with diabetes (PWD) in the United States find insulin access and affordability options that fit their situation. It takes the work out of finding and figuring out which savings programs will work for you.

GetInsulin.org is not a pharmacy or an insurance plan. Beyond Type 1 does not provide or ship insulin. Instead, we connect you with programs that match your financial needs so you can avoid dangerous situations like insulin rationing.

Who is GetInsulin.org For?

GetInsulin.org is for anyone in the U.S. who uses insulin. The tool is available in English and Spanish. It helps people who are uninsured, insured, or under-insured find affordable options.

It cannot promise eligibility, but many people find programs that help. Anyone supporting a loved one with diabetes—caregivers, parents, spouses, siblings—can use the tool to look for savings.

What You’ll Need Before You Start

To use GetInsulin.org, gather a few key details:

  • Your location: Your state and ZIP code. This helps us check if your state has an insulin copay cap. Some states cap insulin between $35 and $100 for a 30-day supply.
  • Your insurance status: Let us know if you have commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare/DOD/VA, no insurance or cash-pay. This guides us towards programs you may qualify for.
  • Your insulin brand or prescription: This helps match you with the right programs.

If you’re applying for someone else, make sure you have their information. Collect these details first to make the process faster. Most people can get it done in just a few minutes.

How to Use GetInsulin.org

  1. Go to GetInsulin.org: Click the “Build” button under “Insulin Continuing Need Support.”
  2. Click “Start Here”: You’ll see a short intro. When you’re ready, click the button again to begin.
  3. Choose how we can stay in touch: Adding your email and preferred pharmacy is optional, but it makes it easier to revisit your plan later. We can email you a copy to save.
  4. Answer a few quick questions: We’ll ask about your location, insurance type, any insurance denials and your insulin preferences.
  5. Review your custom insulin action plan: This shows copay cards, assistance programs and savings options that match your answers.
  6. Follow each program’s steps: Some require online applications, phone calls or printed forms. You can start most applications quickly.
  7. Save or print your plan: Bring it to doctor visits or the pharmacy. This helps you keep track of codes, coupon numbers and program details.

When You Need Insulin Urgently

If you have less than seven days of insulin left, go to the GetInsulin.org homepage and click “Urgent Insulin.”

Answer a few questions and get information about programs built for immediate needs. These options help prevent insulin rationing, which is extremely dangerous.

How to Make the Application Process Smooth

  • After using GetInsulin.org, you must apply separately to each program you qualify for and are interested in.
  • Keep proof of income, a photo ID and active prescriptions ready. PAPs often ask for these.
  • If you qualify for a copay card, ask your pharmacist to apply it. Some cards need to be run without insurance, even though insurance is required to qualify. We know, it’s tricky! Let your pharmacist know this before you pay a high price.
  • If you get denied, don’t give up. Self-advocacy can make a big difference. Call the program’s support line—they may help you fix errors or try again. Hang in there!
  • If you still can’t move forward, consider restarting and checking different insulin options. We know switching insulins isn’t ideal but if it eases the financial burden of your diabetes management, it may be worth considering.

When Your Insurance Changes

If your insurance changes because of a job change, marriage or a new plan year, fill out a new GetInsulin.org application. Even small changes in your formulary can open up new savings options.

Always recheck when you go through life changes! You may find support you didn’t have before.

Lighten the Financial Burden of Diabetes

You don’t have to figure out insulin costs on your own. Spending a few minutes on GetInsulin.org can help make diabetes more affordable. Explore your options today.
