Aaron Johnson, better known as AJ, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the early age of 15 months. Growing up in Northern Virginia, AJ’s first love was baseball and is a diehard fan of the Baltimore Orioles. He’s lived in Charlotte, NC since the age of 17 and graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. For many years AJ managed a restaurant and honed his culinary skills, which is both how and where he found his wife Kori, who is his T1D copilot. After leaving the restaurant, AJ spent years in the banking industry before transitioning full time to his passion and business of portrait and fashion photography. Throughout the years, AJ has served the Diabetes community in many roles. He’s the president of a local 501(c)3 for T1D in Charlotte, and is known for sharing his extensive experience with Type 1 both locally and globally through the diabetes online community.
