Actress Jennifer Stone Joins Beyond Type 1’s Global Ambassador Council

NEW YORK, NY – November 1, 2017, Actress Jennifer Stone (Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place) kicks off National Diabetes Awareness Month by joining the Global Ambassador Council of Beyond Type 1, a global non-profit organization focusing on education, advocacy and curing type 1 diabetes.

Beyond Type 1’s Global Ambassador Council are a group of individuals from all over the globe who are living beyond their type 1 diabetes diagnosis. Through advocacy outreach, the council helps spread awareness about what it means to live with the chronic illness.

As a new Global Ambassador Council member, Jennifer joins several other celebrities living with type 1 diabetes including Nick Jonas, Victor Garber and Crystal Bowersox who have shared their stories on Beyond Type 1’s #LiveBeyond Campaign.

Jennifer was diagnosed with type 1 at 20 years old, around the same time she took a break from acting after Wizards and was attending nursing school. Now 24-year-old Jennifer is back in the acting game and will be starring in Santa Girl, alongside Disney actor Jason Dolley (Good Luck Charlie), slated for release in 2018.

Jennifer says, “I want to make my fellow members of the type 1 community feel that we can all have the life we want for ourselves, despite our diagnosis. Making the world, via our voice and of course social media, more receptive for everyone living with diabetes is why I thought Beyond Type 1 was the perfect platform. I look forward to joining the amazing team!”

Beyond Type 1 was founded in 2015 by Juliet de Baubigny, Nick Jonas, Sarah Lucas and Sam Talbot, and is a new brand of philanthropy leveraging the power of social media and technology, changing what it means to live with a
chronic disease.
