Kristian Hurley, Senior Vice President of Programs, Advocacy, and Health Equity at Beyond Type 1Kristian Hurley is the Senior Vice President of Programs, Advocacy, & Health Equity at Beyond Type 1. Through platforms, programs, resources and grants, Beyond Type 1 is uniting the global diabetes community and providing solutions to improve lives today.

Kristian has previously served as the Executive Director, Development and Community Health at the American Heart Association of Southeastern Michigan.  In this role she was responsible for leading Community Impact, Development, and Communications functions and leading the mission impact strategy for southeastern Michigan  with the goal of transforming environments where people live, work, play, pray, and learn.  For 11 years, Kristian’s work at the American Heart Association helped to build a culture of health for all in Southeastern Michigan.

Additionally, Kristian currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Michigan; a state support organization for Habitat affiliates that represents more than 50 Habitat for Humanity affiliates across Michigan as well as a current Board Member for the Friends of the Pontiac Parks Association.

Kristian holds a Bachelor of Science in Management as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.  She is married to husband Tyrone Hurley and together they share two sons Blake (12) and Davis (16).
